Swimmer check in
- Please have your swimmer arrive at 4pm
- Swimmers head to the Bull Pen area to meet with their team mates and coaches who will help them get ready
- At the Bull Pen, they will be 'marked up' (ie have the information of their events, heats and lanes written on their arms)
What to Bring
- Swimmers should wear their Tidal Waves team suit, or any swimsuit that is suitable for competing (we don't have rules, but think through the potential wardrobe malfunctions that could come with a 2-piece, and remember that board shorts add drag and make your swimmer slower - for this reason, avoid swim shirts)
- Bring a towel, goggles, swim cap, water, snacks - your swimmer should keep everything they need with them in the Bull Pen
- A simple game or pack of cards can be fun to have in the bull pen. Avoid bringing anything valuable or fragile. We cannot be responsible for anything that goes missing or gets broken.
Bull Pen
- Swimmers are grouped by age and boy / girl.
- Swimmers will be under tents meaning they are protected from direct sun and light rain
Timeline
- Meets will start at 5.30pm. Swimmers must arrive at 4pm.
- The backstroke events mark the half time point. This is generally around 7.30pm although it's impossible to predict exact timing.
- 6 and under events are done after the backstroke, and you are welcome to either stay and watch the older kids swim, or take your own kids home.
- If you have a child age 7 or over and you only plan to be there for the first half, you MUST let Coach Carter know so he can ensure your swimmer is not scheduled for any later events - be aware this will limit the events they are eligible for including the freestyle relay, which is always a fun team event.
- If your child needs to leave unexpectedly during a meet, PLEASE tell Coach Carter before you go. This allows him to move swimmers around if possible. If your child is scheduled for a relay and simply doesn't arrive for the event, it leaves 3 other swimmers without a complete team.
Spectators
- Spectators should sit on the bleachers under the tent.
- ONLY swimmers, coaches and volunteers are allowed on deck. Parents/spectators must stay in the designated spectator area.
Bad Weather During a Meet
- We can swim and compete in rain. We cannot swim safely in thunder.
- In the event of thunder please listen carefully to instructions from Coach Carter, Lifeguards and/or Officials. Their priority is your safety and the safety of your child.
- If we are placed on a 30 minute thunder delay, please do not go home unless Coach Carter announces the meet is cancelled. We are usually able to continue after a short delay and we need your swimmer to be there!
Concessions
The concession stand will be open throughout the meet. Cash only.
